Client Spotlight: 'I am in the best shape of my life - at 59'

Laura spent the past year completely transforming herself. Now, before I go on, Laura didn’t need to transform her life. She recently sold her very successful business and lives an abundant life which includes fitness and an incredible social network. But, almost a year to the day, she glanced at a picture of herself and wasn’t too happy, so she decided to do something about it.

SHE WENT FROM THIS DECEMBER 2022

DECEMBER 2022, 58 YEARS OF AGE

THIS THIS ONE YEAR LATER...

DECEMBER 2023, 59 YEARS OF AGE

It was wintertime, so she picked up her skiing, nature walks, and began to be more mindful of her eating habits. Fast forward a few months, she told me she had enrolled in Ms. Senior Canada - and WON. She was now heading to Mississippi for Ms. Senior WORLD the following year.

I immediately got her doing Strong Bodies by Tish . I told her she needed to do three of the strength workouts each week, plus keep up with her new healthy habits. We has lots of time, and I told her in a year she would be unstoppable - but she had to incorporate the strength in.

How could she say no?

I kept an eye on her results in the app, noticed she was logging in and completing workouts, but didn’t really hear much from her.

One month in, we met up, and I was in complete shock.

She was already moving, feeling, and looking better.

‘I hated you for the first three weeks, Tish,’ she said to me. ‘But I’ve now done every single one of your workouts for a month, and I’m starting to feel like I’m actually enjoying it. I think I might actually start loving it - I feel great.’

I was over the moon.

She kept up with it for a year. Not always training as hard as she could, but she showed up every single day.

Here are some of the takeaways from our live conversation today.

~ It wasn’t about how hard she pushed; it was about showing up daily. That was the hardest part - SHOWING UP.

~ This is her new way of life. She made small gradual changes that helped her stay consistent, but also kept her expectations healthy and realistic.

~ As I mentioned, the first three weeks were not fun. She could barely do any of the exercises, but instead of quitting, she persevered. She didn’t want to disappoint me, but more importantly, she didn’t want to disappoint herself.

~ She incorporated intermittent fasting into her life. Her first meal was coffee with collagen and a protein smoothie with milk, fruit, and protein powder. This first meal was the one she concentrated on getting as much protein as she could. Her other meals were whatever she wanted, but most were healthy, home-cooked meals with protein as a focus. If she wanted a treat, she had it before 7 or 8 pm and just sipped tea for the rest of the evening.

As you can see, nothing extreme, nothing drastic. This is the only way to sustain long-term results.

** She also mentioned that if life got in the way, and she couldn’t fast or had to eat later, it was fine, and she just moved on the following day.

THIS IS MUSIC TO MY EARS!!!!

~ Her aches and pains are still present, but with the increased mobility and strength sessions, she is feeling much better and extremely excited about heading into the ski season with the strongest body she has ever had, AT 59 YEARS OF AGE!

This last point is probably going to be the most significant for most of you…

~ She has never had LEGS the way she does now. In the past, they had a lot of cellulite, and she felt self-conscious about being in shorts or a bikini. “Even in my 20s and 30s, I didn’t love my legs, but now I love them, and I am 59 years young!”

She hated all the leg exercises, but now she is so grateful she kept pushing.

“I want women to know they can still love their bodies, move their bodies, and be comfortable in a bikini at any age. It is possible. We just have to stay the course and keep going.”

I wanted to hug her through my phone.

What an incredibly rewarding experience this has been for me to be a part of. Yes, Laura looks incredible, but the way she is able to move her body now is the most important thing to me.

She radiates confidence and encourages us all.

Laura went on the WIN Ms, Senior Word in November in Mississippi! She said she felt incredibly confident with what she was able to accomplish the past year. Congrats, my friend, you deserve this celebration, and I can't wait to see how fast you ski down the mountain this year.
